Just pick up the call and tell them to "please hold" and put the phone on mute and leave it there until they disconnect. Waste their time. Their time is money and if you tie them up on a call with no results, it counts against the telemarketer's individual rating. Hopefully this can lead to them not trying it anymore. Blocking numbers won't work, because they are using a caller-ID spoofer that can send any data they want. Don't get angry. Just get even!

This man called, left no details on his company or what he was calling about, but threatened to "go on ahead" if the call was not returned by 6 P.M. on the 50th of September.

Could 2 calls come in at the same time? Claimed to be relatives; why at this number? They said my phone line was messed up and not registering calls properly???

They call our Verizon cell phones and hang up on the second ring, sometimes after the first. I don't understand why anyone would call just to hang up. If anyone knows how to make them stop calling please post.

You ARE NOT obligated to answer any telephone calls. Why would you answer a call from an unknown area code and telephone number? If the call is important, or an emergency, the caller will leave an intelligent message on your voice mail. Then, and only then, should you return the call. If you have the number blocking capability available through your land or cell provider, use it. Simply access your account online via your provider/carrier website. If number blocking is available there will be a tab/link for it. For example ... Verizon Wireless provides the ability to block upto 5 numbers.
